Artist's Description

There likely is no aircraft with a more appropriate name than the C-130 Hercules. The airplane is a true workhorse which has been adapted for many rugged duty missions. The WC-130J is known as “Hurricane Hunter”. The extreme conditions encountered when flying through such a storm make this a job not for the faint of heart. Flown by the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron crews fly into hurricanes and obtain valuable data and measurements about the strength and intensity of the storm. This information is invaluable and serves to save the lives of countless thousands in the path of the storm.
