Artist's Description
The P-38 was one of the most advanced fighter designs during World War Two. The design was used extensively in the Pacific Theater of Operations by the United States. It offered excellent performance in speed and rate of climb but it was especially desirable for it's long-range capabilities flying over the vast Pacific Ocean. "Battle Axe" was the aircraft flown by Lt. Thomas Martin and was part of the elite 475th Fighter Group, 431st Fighter Squadron known as Satan's Angels. Our print depicts "Battle Axe" as she appeared during April of 1945.
