Gunships were used during the Vietnam War to support ground troops and disrupt supply lines. The AC-119K Stinger was developed as part of Project Gunship III. Outfitted with heavy armament and classified sensing equipment, the Stinger was used extensively to destroy trucks bringing supplies to North Vietnam via the Ho Chi Minh Trail through Laos. Its two M61AI 20mm multi-barrel Gattling cannons provided devastating firepower for truck busting. To provide extra power to haul the heavy armament, the airplane was fitted with two J85 jet engines in addition to the standard radials. This print depicts the Stinger over Laos circa 1970.
