Description
In 1915 RMS Lusitania was one of the most beautiful and fastest ocean liners afloat. Going first class on the Lusitania was an experience in floating luxury. From 1914, Great Britain was at war with Germany. Despite warnings of German uboat activity, Lusitania was thought to be too fast for any submarine to catch. This assumption was proven wrong when on May 7, 1915, on her 202nd Atlantic crossing, the RMS Lusitania was torpedoed off the coast of Ireland. The ship went down in only 18 minutes taking 1,198 passengers and crew with her. There were 764 survivors. This print is a tribute to RMS Lusitania on the 100th anniversary of her sinking.
