Artist's Description
The F-100 Super Sabre was the world's first production aircraft capable of exceeding the speed of sound in level flight. The F-100C model was first adopted by the USAF Thunderbirds in 1956 becoming the world’s first supersonic aerial demonstration team. The Thunderbirds flew 6 shows with the F-105B Thunderchief in 1964 but transitioned to the F-100D Super Sabre after an unfortunate accident. The F-100D was used until 1969.
